Summary: John says good bye to Helmholtz and bernard, and asks mond if he can go with them. Mond denies the request and John finds a hermitage in and old lighthouse. One day Deltas see john whipping himself in solitude and they begin to interview him. John reacts by assaulting the men and demanding that they leave him alone. the Deltas publish the info and people start harassing John, everytime they confront him he gets more and more violent. One day he thinks of Lenina and begins to whip himself. A news reporter catches this act on tape and releases a feely that grows in popularity. Fans of john chant outside of his house we want the whip. Lenina rushes out of a helicopter and greets john. John reacts to this by whipping her, and the crowd begins to sing orgy porgy. The next day John remembers the last day and hangs himself.

Chpt. 17
Summary: Mond asks John if he has ever heard of god, and john doesn't know how to reply. Mond then shows john his collection of religious books, and they beginning arguing about how religion affects the society they are living in today. After a very long and arduos talk John declares that he wants god, poetry, real danger, freedom, goodness and sin.

Summary: The three prisoners were taken to the office of Mustapha Mond. Bernard is very nervous. John wanders around the room looking at all of the books on a bookshelf. Mond enters the room and shakes hands with three convicts. Mustapha Mond then talks with JOhn about shakespear, the current world, and if all civilians under bokanovski influence could be alphas. Mond refers to a civil war on an island full of only alphas. He also explains how science and technology have to be kept simple for a stable world. Mond then talks about his past experiences with science. He then tells Bernard and Helmholtz that they will be exiled to a private island because of their personal interests and views. Bernard begins to beg to stay in London, and blames the whole incident on John and Helmholtz. Bernard is removed and sedated. Helmholtz is then asked by Mond which kind of climate he would like to be stationed in, and Helmholtz chooses an island with a bad climate since he could write better there.

Summary: John sees a group of Delta's lining up for soma distribution. John reacts to this by telling the Deltas not to use soma and the man distributing soma calls Bernard. Bernard and Helmholtz quickly arrive at the hospital. John takes the Deltas soma and throws it out of the window, and the deltas attack him. Helmholtz joins the fight, but Bernard hesitates and stays behind. The police arrive and spray everyone down with soma and anesthetic. They then set up a recorded voice that questions why everyone is so unhappy over and over again, and John, Helmholtz, and Bernard were taken into custody.

Summary: John arrives at the hospital and finds Linda. While reminiscing about past memories, a group of 8 year old boys comment on Linda's appearance. John strikes one of the boys. Linda thinks that John is Popè and John begins to shake her. Linda then recites a hypnopaedic saying from her childhood, and begins to choke. John gets the nurse but by the time they get back to Linda she is dead. John begins to cry and the nurse hands out chocolate eclairs. One twin asks if Linda is dead and John pushes the kid down before leaving the room.

Summary: Lenina is invited to a feely but she declines the invitation. When she is talking to Fanny she says that she only wants one man, John. Lenina then decides to attempt to seduce John. John reacts to Lenina by quoting shakespear and speaking of marriage. Lenina is excited to find that John loves her, but loses interest at the thought of a lifelong commitment. She then moves closer to him and begins undressing, John is terrified by her. He slaps her and calls her a whore. Lenina locks herself in the bathroom and John starts re-enacting shakespear. He then receives a phone call about Linda's condition and leaves the apartment. Lenina slowly and cautiously leaves the apartment.

Summary: Bernard is begging John to come to a party with him. john doesn't show up and Bernard loses popularity, Lenina decides that she likes JOhn. Bernard is talked to by the archbishop, and when all of the people begin to leave bernard begins to weep. Meanwhile the savage is reading and reciting Romeo and juliet. Helmholtz gets in trouble at the college for reciting some poetry he has written. Bernard then lets John meet Helmholtz. bernard becomes jealous of their friendship, John begins reciting shakespear to Helmholtz. When John recites Romeo and Juliet, Helmholtz begins to laugh, and John stops reading.

Summary: We find out that linda is on a soma diet which John disagrees with. Lenina convinces Fanny that she was wrong about Bernard. Bernard becomes more cocky, and decides never to speak to Helmholtz again. The savage finds the sight at the workhouse horrific and begins hurling. They then go to an Alpha school where bernard tries to hook John up with a chick. They then go into the hypnopaedic room where johns wonders if they read shakespear which is quickly answer negatively. John learns that dying is a casual thing in this world, and they then leave. On the way home, john sees a long line of people lining up for their soma rations. Lenina starts talking to fanny about how she's going on a date with john, and fanny claims that Lenina is lucky. John and Lenina go to the feely and John finds them horrible. John then compares the feely he saw to Othello, and Lenina goes home alone and takes some soma.

Summary: The setting is in the Bloomsbury Center. The director is explaining what kind of workers are found here. He brings in Bernard for a public example and tries to fire him. Bernard counters this by bringing in Linda. She claims that the director is the father of her son, john. John comes into the room and neals down in front of the director and yells father. The director is thoroughly embarrassed and leaves.

Chp. 9
Summary: Linda returns home and goes on an 18 hour soma holiday. While Linda was on holiday Bernard sat in his bed and thought up a plan. The next day he leaves linda for business, and meets Mustapha Mond. After talking with Mond and the Warden he takes his time before leaving back to Linda. John is upset when he finds that Bernard and Lenina had left him, and so he cries while siiting on the steps. John then decides to look through the house window and break the glass when he sees lenina's suitcase. he then rushes inside and starts smelling and playing with all of lenina's clothes. He then thinks he hears a noise and quickly stops what he's doing. He walks out to the landing carefully and sees lenina lying on her bed. He starts to cry. he then kneels down beside her and starts reciting poetry. He goes to touch her but quickly recoils. He begins to hear a buzzing and realizes it's bernard's plane landing. He quickly escapes the building in time to meet him.

Summary:Description of John's early life, and how john was treated by other children. He then begins to learn to read and later receives his book of Shakespear. After reading the book he is empowered with idea to kill Popè. He is taught how to make pottery by Mitsima who pretty much just teaches him how to live like a savage. He is then outcasted by all savages. Bernard tells John that he can come back to London with him and Lenina.

Summary: Bernard and lenina walk towards indian civilization, Lenina is complaining about walking, and doesn't like the village when they get there. When lenina sees an old indian Bernard explains why he looks that old and not like the director old. They then enter a tent and see that john wishes he had been whipped instead of the previous man. John shows that he is attracted to Lenina, and we then meet Linda. We find that she is an ugly being and she attacks lenina with envy and immediatly attempts to relate to her previous life in london. she thens explains that she had been trying to train john.

Chpt. 6
SUmmary: Lenina is debating on whether to go to the north pole with Benito Hoover or New Mexico with Bernard. Henry then compares Bernard to a rhino stating that rhinos cannot learn new tricks. Bernard chooses to do something alone with Lenina instead of bringing her to a public place, and of course Lenina finds this odd and questions what they will be doing. Bernard states that they will be talking, and Lenina disagrees with him and pursuades him to go to the women's heavy weight wrestling competition. After Lenina cannot stop promoting soma and bernard tells her to shut up, he then drives the helicopter out over the dark water and lenina becomes uncomfortable. He then starts speaking sentimentally about himself. Lenina completely ignores his talk and bernard simply gives up and flies to his rooms and takes some soma. In the end Lenina still finds bernard odd.
PT.2- Bernard requests a permit to be signed by the Director so that he can travel to the New Mexico reservation. This triggers a memory in the Directors mind about his trip to the New Mexico reservation.

Chpt. 5
Summary:Lenina and henry take helicopter and fly over smokestacks. Lenina questions what the balconies on the smokestacks do and henry replies with phosphorous recovery from adult corpses. Henry states that all men are physico-chemical equal, and lenina has a flash back to a re-occuring dream of hers. The helicopter is shot up by a rush of hot air from the smokestack which lenina thinks is fun, but henry states that the switchback was a human finally and definetly dissapearing. They then land and have some soma then go dancing (all music is about soma), and they return to their housing for the night.
PT.2- Bernard goes to a Ford ceremony and is late, but is not the last one to arrive. He quickly sits down and finds that he has chosen the worst seat possible in the room. They then take soma tablets and soma strawberry ice cream. They then begin singing hymns and start drinking to Ford's return. They believe that they hear Ford's footsteps approaching, and at the peak of the chanting begin to recite childish peotry. Bernard after the worship states that he didn't feel like Ford was coming, and couldn't stand Morganna Diesels eyebrow.
